Better Sleep Through Screen Time: The Role of Telehealth in Sleep Care for the School-Aged Child

Sleep plays an integral role in a child’s physical and neuropsychological development. Children with sleep disorders are at risk of developing inattention, hyperactivity, learning difficulties, challenges that impact them, their families, classmates, communities.26 There is paucity pediatric medicine providers equipped to partner families identifying addressing disorders. Additional barriers accessing this specialized care include geographic proximity, parental ability take time off from work, hesitance for child miss valuable school. During the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, our department transitioned largely in-person predominantly virtual platform collected data monitor transition. In study, we share several key trends emerged which may have broad implications on how can better support school-aged children challenges.
